THE LOCAL LION WORKING FOR YOU

Tennessee Lions received a $50,000 emergency disaster grant to
use in the counties that were designated as disaster areas. We are using
the funds to restock the food pantries in each of those counties. We
checked with the pantries to find out their needs and ordered
accordingly. Our club is taking care of Houston and Stewart Counties;
other clubs are working with their own counties or in some cases, theirs
and neighboring counties that don't have Lions Clubs. We purchased most
of the supplies through Second Harvest in Nashville. They should be
ready for pickup on Monday or Tuesday of next week--we haven't been told
the actual day. Lions from all over District 12-I and District 12-S will
show up at the warehouse with trucks and trailers to carry the cases of
supplies to back to their counties. District 12-L, also hit pretty
badly, will collect their orders in Memphis. We have had labels printed
(donated by a printer who is a Lion) to put on the cases and then to give
to the pantries to put on the boxes that are given to the clients. These
labels identify the food as having been given by the local Lions using
funds from LCIF.
